We have introduced several improvements to Affinect's Programs module, giving businesses more control over when loyalty rewards are issued and greater flexibility to update Programs after publication.
This release focuses on two practical changes: introducing bonus rewards that trigger during specific loyalty card cycles, and making it easier to edit published Programs without starting again.
Introduce bonus rewards at specific loyalty milestones
Loyalty rewards do not always need to repeat every time a customer completes a stamp card.
Previously, rewards configured at particular stamp milestones were issued during every cycle of a repeatable loyalty Program. For example, a reward configured at the third stamp would be issued each time the customer reached that milestone on a new card cycle.
That behaviour remains available, but we have now introduced cycle-specific bonus rewards.
When configuring a reward, businesses can choose between:
- Every cycle: the reward is issued whenever the customer reaches the configured stamp threshold, on each cycle.
- Specific cycle: the reward is issued only when the customer reaches the configured stamp threshold during the selected cycle.
This allows businesses to combine regular loyalty rewards with additional incentives at particular stages of the customer relationship.
How could this work in practice?
Welcome rewards for new members
A coffee shop might offer a complimentary pastry when a customer joins its loyalty Program and reaches their first stamp.
By assigning this reward to the first cycle only, the business can provide a welcome incentive without repeating the same offer every time the customer starts a new card.
Additional rewards for long-term customers
Consider a restaurant running a five-stamp loyalty Program.
Customers receive a complimentary coffee at the third stamp of every cycle. The restaurant can now introduce an additional reward, such as a special gift, when a customer reaches the fifth stamp during their sixth cycle.
The regular reward continues as normal, while the additional bonus is issued only at the specified milestone.
Surprise rewards
Businesses can also use cycle-specific bonuses to introduce unexpected rewards for returning customers.
For example, an additional reward could be assigned to the tenth completed card cycle, without changing the recurring rewards customers already receive.
These rewards can be managed and their issuance and redemption tracked within the same loyalty Program, rather than relying on separate manual records.
Clearer visibility of recurring and bonus rewards
We have also updated the Program overview to make the distinction between reward types easier to understand.
The Program setup at a glance section now displays the number of active rewards, separated into recurring and bonus rewards.
Each reward is also identified by its stamp threshold and whether it applies to every cycle or only a particular cycle.
This makes it easier to review how a Program is configured, particularly when multiple rewards are available at different milestones.
Edit published Programs without starting again
We have also made an important improvement to Program management.
Businesses can now return to a published Program and update a wider range of settings without having to create a replacement Program.
This is particularly useful when Program details need to change after an internal review, or when the business needs to update customer-facing information.
Editable elements include Program names, descriptions, Terms & Conditions, images and other supported configuration settings.
Certain structural settings remain fixed after publication, including the number of stamps required per card and the number of starting stamps. These restrictions preserve the original earning structure of the Program.
The update gives businesses greater flexibility to maintain their Programs while keeping the underlying loyalty structure consistent.
Additional platform improvements
Alongside the loyalty updates, we have made several smaller corrections and usability improvements.
These include fixes related to custom fields and clearer guidance during WhatsApp number connection, making the setup process easier to follow.
These changes are now released and available in Affinect.
