Warm-Up Strategy for New WhatsApp Business Accounts (Anti-Ban Tactics)

Why New WhatsApp Accounts Are High Risk

A new number starts with zero trust because it has no prior history. WhatsApp monitors new accounts closely to prevent spam. Any unusual activity, like sending bulk messages, can trigger blocks.
The key is to build a positive reputation gradually. Each message should encourage replies and engagement, signaling to WhatsApp that your number is legitimate.
Starting a new business account on WhatsApp can be exciting, and it’s tempting to send one large message to everyone you know. However, sending too many messages at once can get a new number blocked, making it impossible to reach potential customers. This is due to the bulk sending risk, which applies to all new accounts.

The solution is a structured warm-up strategy to gradually build trust, increase message limits safely, and maintain a strong WhatsApp reputation. This guide will show you how to safely use the WhatsApp Cloud API and grow your account effectively.

The Zero-Trust Problem

  • New numbers have no prior chats, so sending too many messages too quickly raises red flags.

  • Blocked numbers or ignored messages tell WhatsApp the sender might be spam.

  • The goal is to develop a good reputation from the first message.

Understanding Bulk Sending Risks

The main reason accounts get blocked is high-volume messaging. Even high-quality messages sent in bulk can trigger a spam alert.

Safe approach: Start with a small number of messages, build engagement, and gradually increase volume. Focus on replies and user-approved interactions.

Foundation of a WhatsApp Anti-Ban Strategy

A WhatsApp warm-up strategy is more than a checklist; it’s about building trust. Think of it like establishing credit with a bank: every action affects your reputation.

  • Good messages that get replies → build trust

  • Blocked or ignored messages → harm your trust score

The goal is to establish a pattern of engaging, user-approved communication.

Step-by-Step Warm-Up Plan

Pre-Flight Checklist (Before Sending Messages)

1. Complete Your Profile: Add business name, website, hours, and address.

2. Verify Your Business: Complete the Facebook Business verification if possible.

3. Start Small: Make a list of 10–20 people and ask them to reply to your messages.

Phase 1 (Days 1–7): Building Foundational Trust

  • Action: Send 10–20 messages per day to your list.

  • Goal: Generate replies for each text to establish trust.

  • Example Message:

"Hi [Name], this is our new business number. Can you reply so I know you received it? Thanks!"

Phase 2 (Days 8–15): Scaling Messaging Safely

  • Action: Increase to 30–50 messages per day to verified users.

  • Focus: Send helpful texts like order updates or shipping info.

  • Monitor: Check the trust score daily; if it drops, reduce sends.

Phase 3 (Days 16–21): Reaching a Higher Tier

  • Action: Gradually increase to 250–300 messages/day.

  • Goal: Move to the next sending tier while maintaining quality and reply rates.

Week-by-Week Sending Schedule:

Phase 4 (Day 22+): Increasing Message Limits

  • Goal: Grow your account responsibly to higher tiers (up to 10,000 users per day).

  • Rule: Increase daily sends by no more than 20% at a time to maintain trust.

If the Start Verification button in your Facebook Business Manager is disabled or not visible, don’t panic; this is a very common issue.

In most cases, this happens because your Business Information setup is incomplete.

You may notice one of the following:
